Attachment 2b – Wardrobes Specifications (70kg)
Foldable Wardrobe:
Overall Description: Collapsible two-door front opening wardrobe assembled/disassembled safely from upright position by one person. Structure is made of solid wood and/or solid wood mix with durable veneer finish. Color of wardrobe needs to be the same both inside and outside. No tools shall be required to assemble/disassemble the wardrobe, unlatch the shelf connectors or remove the doors.
The entire foldable wardrobe shall consist of one piece without any loose parts. All sides, top shelf and base must be hinged and self-contained. Wardrobe must contain a mechanism that keeps the unit firm and sturdy when assembled. The folding mechanism of the wardrobe shall be built in a manner to avoid any rapid, falling or other fast unexpected part movements that could potentially cause accident risks to the worker while assembling the wardrobe at any stage of the assembling or disassembling process. All major parts, e.g., wardrobe top or bottom, shall move securely and not unexpectedly during the normal assembling or disassembling process. All steps of assembly and disassembly folding operations shall be possible while wearing protective work gloves. Once assembled, the wardrobe will be stable as one piece to be moved, lifted or turned around without any danger of collapsing. All folding mechanisms shall be completely concealed once the wardrobe is assembled for use. All hinges shall be flush with all facings. The wardrobe shall have no sharp parts or edges in- or outside. The back and side portion surfaces shall be inset recessed in order to avoid rubbing and scratching damages when wardrobes are transported together or stacked on each other for storage. All surfaces shall be water-resistant and sunlight color resistant, non-fading. The rear, bottom corners of wardrobes shall be rounded, shaped and reinforced because when wardrobes are lifted and transported by dolly in a either an assembled or an unassembled status, these portions of the wardrobe are usually exposed to high wear and tear.
Doors: The wardrobe shall have a pair of doors that are removable without tools. When the wardrobe is folded (transport position), the door hinges shall securely hold the doors in position and prevent them from coming loose or separating from the wardrobe body (inclusive upside down movements). The door hinge shall have a snap type mechanism to hold door in closed position when door reaches the applicable 90-degree closed angle. Hinges shall be Haefele model 'Aximat 100 SM FS' or equivalent. Each door shall have a minimum of three hinges with an opening angle of 270 degrees swing and shall have a click stop that securely holds the door when it is in the closed position. Hinges and door handles shall be placed in such a way that the doors are interchangeable from right to left (symmetric) and from one wardrobe to any other wardrobe delivered by the same BPA holder.
Hinges: The wardrobes shall have piano hinges installed that allow a 270 degree swing in such a manner to easily connect the folding sides, the back, the bottom and the top of wardrobe.
Fittings: The wardrobes shall have a minimum of 4 metal and/or elasticized plastic fittings male/female that allow the foldable top and the bottom of wardrobe to move for assembly or disassembly, but hold the parts securely and firmly together when assembled.
Rod holders: The wardrobes shall have three pairs of hanging rod mounts (pre-installed), plus one (1) hanging rod. The hanging rod positions shall correspond to three selectable positions below the top shelf. The hanging rod shall be capable of being securely affixed inside the wardrobe when it is disassembled for transport. Once the wardrobe is assembled, the rod and the rod mounts shall fit snuggly together and shall be built strong enough to hold the maximum weight resulting from the wardrobe being packed full with heavy duty clothing.
Shelves: The wardrobes shall have inside shelves that fold towards the top of the wardrobe with sufficient space for storing items with minimum four (4) metal and plastic connectors to secure inner-top shelf in either position.
Transport handles: The wardrobes shall have four heavy-duty transport handles with 90 degree stop mechanisms, corresponding to the position of the wardrobe, when item is carried.
Two handles shall be mounted on the top of the wardrobe and two handles shall be mounted on the bottom for easy transport. Transport handles shall be shaped so as not to dig into the hands of the persons carrying the wardrobe and the handle openings shall be wide enough to allow a gloved hand to solidly grip it when lifting the wardrobe. Each handle shall be capable of carrying the full weight of the entire wardrobe.
Door handles: The wardrobes shall have oval shaped door handles (solid wood is preferred material) or heavy-duty lay flat handles at equal level positions on the doors in the middle height of the door. The handles shall not extent far out over the flat surface of the door to avoid damages when transported, but shall allow enough grip space for all hand fingers to reach in into the handle deep enough to easily pull doors open or close doors. The color of the door handles shall match the color of the wardrobe body.
Straps: The wardrobes shall have two sets of Velcro-fastening straps attached to back exterior. The straps shall be long enough to go around the wardrobe when folded for transport and fastened in the front. Straps shall be strong enough to prevent the doors from rattling and the wardrobe from any other unwanted self unfolding moves during transport. Each of the two Velcro sets has a loop at one end of the strap, so the opposite strap could be tidied backwards in, to allow easy and most efficient tightening up of straps, this is also to be doable while workers wear protective work gloves. The straps shall be strong to hold the weight of the wardrobe while in movement.
Feet: The wardrobes shall have 4 heavy duty plastic-covered height adjustable leveling feet (without need of tools) on the button with rubber covers. Once the wardrobe is assembled, the feet shall be stable and strong enough to allow the wardrobe to be moved. Moves may include turns, horizontal sliding, tilted moves or lifting of entire wardrobe whereby neither the wardrobe itself nor the floor shall be damaged.
Color: The wardrobes shall have the same Light Cherry or Light Oak color on the inside and on the outside. The specific color will be specified in each order.
Structure: The wardrobes shall be constructed of wood and/or of a solid wood mix. The wardrobes shall be constructed neither of full particleboard or of MPF, nor of hollow fill portions. The solid wood mix refers to veneer that is bonded, i.e., solid wood or plywood core with durable veneer finish or hard laminate surface.
Wood Thickness: The wardrobe doors, sides, walls, tops, bottoms and shelves shall be a minimum of 16mm thick, not including the back.
Metal Parts: Any metal parts on the wardrobes such as hinges, handles, hanging rod, connectors or fittings shall be non-rusting/non-corrosive. Chrome or stainless steel is preferred.
Dimensions: 72"HX36"WX24"D (183cm Height/Hoehe X 90cm Width/Breite X 60cm Depth/Tiefe). The Government will accept up to +/- 1% or up to max 2cm / 0.75” tolerance for each given dimension to accommodate production variations.
Weight: The maximum allowable weight for these wardrobes is 154 lbs./70 kg.
The Government prefers lighter weight wardrobes because they are very frequently transported/moved.
Other: All exposed wood surfaces and board ends, e.g., doors, shelf-edges, ends (bottom/top side edges), front, back and vertical folding edges, shall be veneered with 2-3mm PVC edge banding.
Environmental Friendliness: The wardrobes shall be environmental friendly. Any material used in or on the wardrobes, to include parts, paints or finishes, shall meet the environmental standards of the United States and those applicable standards for the country the wardrobe will be delivered to. All wardrobe materials shall be safe for human use, including use by small children. The wardrobes shall contain no hazardous materials (e.g., non-environmental friendly paints or glues) and shall not radiate any harmful substances, to include smells or exhausts that could potentially cause allergies or could be harmful to human health. The dispositioning or recycling of no longer needed wardrobes at end of their lifecycle must be possible in accordance with applicable US or local country law.
Life expectancy: The wardrobes shall remain stable and durable throughout 7 years of frequent transportation and assembly/disassembly.
Shipping: Orders of wardrobes shall be palletized for delivery (most economical one-ways).
The maximum load per pallet is five each wardrobes.
