About this file

This document is an agenda item for the Cherokee County, Georgia Board of Commissioners meeting on May 7, 2024 regarding the purchase of five fire engines with equipment from FireLine, Inc. The Procurement Department previously issued RFP 2024-017 for the purchase of up to ten fire engines over a six-year period, and Fire & Emergency Services is now seeking approval to purchase five engines to replace older frontline engines. FireLine, Inc. was the only company that submitted a proposal, and their pricing was determined to be fair and reasonable by the Procurement Department. The total cost for the five engines and equipment is $5,181,810.00, which will be paid at the time of delivery. Two engines are expected to be received by June 2025, with the remaining three to be received in 2026. The engines were budgeted in SPLOST 2024.

The pricing for the five engines is as follows: $921,395.00 for the first engine, $921,395.00 for the second engine, $916,395.00 for the third engine, $916,395.00 for the fourth engine, and $911,395.00 for the fifth engine. The equipment cost is $118,967.00 per engine. The contract will be a one-time purchase with no renewal options.

Cherokee County, Georgia Agenda Request

Item # 12.10

SUBJECT:

Purchase of five (5) Fire Engines from FireLine, Inc.

MEETING DATE:

May 7, 2024

SUBMITTED BY:

Amanda Postelle

SUGGESTED ACTION:

Consider approval of a request from Fire & Emergency Services to purchase five (5) fire engines with equipment from FireLine, Inc., in the total amount of $5,181,810.00.

FACTS AND ISSUES:

The Procurement Department issued RFP 2024-017 for the purchase of up to ten fire engines over a six-year period. Fire & Emergency Services has developed an apparatus replacement program based on NFPA recommendations and is seeking approval to purchase five (5) fire engines with corresponding equipment. Through a bump down plan, these engines will replace older frontline engines, moving the older engines into reserve status and allowing the department to surplus several reserve engines that are over 25 years old.

FireLine, Inc. was the only company that submitted a proposal. Procurement compared FireLine's price to other counties that had recently purchased similar engines and determined their price to be fair and reasonable.

The cost per engine is as follows:

1st engine: $921,395.00 2nd engine: $921,395.00 3rd engine: $916,395.00 4th engine: $916,395.00 5th engine: $911,395.00 Equipment: $118,967.00 per engine

Total cost is $5,181,810.00 and will be paid at time of delivery.

These engines were budgeted in SPLOST 2024. Two engines are expected to be received by June 2025 with the remaining engines to be received in 2026.
