About this file
This is a Brand Name/Sole Source Justification document for the procurement of Skydio X10D drone systems by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Corona Division (NSWCCO). The document requests two specific Skydio drone items: a Skydio X10D Starter Solution (Multi-Band, IR) and a Skydio NightSense with IR Attachment for X10D, each with a quantity of 1. The justification is based on FAR 13.106-1(b)(ii) for a particular brand-name item, with the Skydio X10D currently in use by the Marine Corps and other Department of Navy customers.
The document explains that the Skydio X10D is an approved Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) Blue Unmanned Aerial System (UAS), and procuring a different drone would cause significant delays and lost man-hours. The procurement is specifically for testing operations including Precision Guidance Kit Test, Infrared Flare Mortar Test, Cal Gustav Blast Over-Pressure Test, and other planned testing activities. NSWCCO has no immediate plans to compete future contracts for these supplies, but will assess potential competition for future requirements. The document is dated for approval on 08/13/2025 and involves various Navy personnel in the approval process.
