ADDENDUM #1

BL085-24, Bay Creek Park Synthetic Turf Replacement

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS:

Q1. Is there a specification for the modular block wall?

A1. Contractor is to match the existing wall. Plans label it as “Keystone standard unit or approved equal.” Wall submittal must be approved before construction of wall. See specification section 32 3223, MSE Segmental Retaining Wall.

Q2. Are the areas where there’s settlement marked on the plans?

A2. See sheet C200 for these locations.

Q3. Will the geotechnical engineer be retained by and paid for by the County, or is contractor required to hire the geotechnical engineer and pay for all services?

A3. The County will retain & pay for the Geotechnical Engineer.

Q4. Are both the 4’ inner fence and 6’ outer fence part of the scope of work?

A4. 100 LF of 4’ height fence and 100 LF of 6’ height fence should be included in the base bid. These quantities are listed in the unit price schedule.

Add alternate #4 should include all 4’ height fencing and gates, and 6’ fence that is directly adjacent to the synthetic turf field.

See specification section 32 3113, Chain Link Fences and Gates.

Q5. Where are the access points for the field?

A5. There are access points marked on the plans. Any changes can be addressed with the awarded contractor after award.

Q6. Are Contractors required to provide/carry cost for security fencing around field throughout project?

A6. Existing 6’ perimeter fence will remain in place throughout construction, except as described in Alternate #4, if accepted. Contractor to provide chain & padlock as well as any additional fencing needed to secure the field. Any fencing/gates removed or damaged during construction will be replaced at the contractor’s expense.

Q7. Are Contractors required to provide/carry cost for erosion control at limits of construction?

A7. Yes.

Q8. C200 - Extend Modular Block Wall: Please provide some design specifications/requirements on modular block wall – there are zero details in plans about existing wall that we are to match.

A8. See Q1 above. Contractor should examine the existing wall to determine the best match.

Q9. C200: Please confirm that sink hole repairs shown (4) are to be completed using unit prices indicated on bid form – i.e. GC’s will NOT be carrying sink hole repairs in base bid due to lack of geo-tech recommendations/specifications. Call out is for repairs to be performed according to geo-tech recommendations.

A9. Bidders should include the listed quantities for unit prices in the base bid. The listed quantity for Exploration of existing soils is 50 cubic yards. This quantity may be adjusted in a future change order depending on actual cubic yards excavated.

Q10. C200 - ENLARGEMENT A: Is 12” Inline Drain shown in detail existing or is the contractor to supply? Please confirm if the call out for 6” Sch. 40 PVC is correct.

A10. Contractor to supply. Contractor shall price as shown.

Q11. C300 - DETAIL 6: Is the GC to remove the existing goal post mounting plate and provide a new mounting plate with GoalPak system?

A11. Correction: Gwinnett County wishes to replace the existing goal system and provide the new

GoalPak system, or approved equal, with the ground sleeve mount. See attachment 2.

Q12. ADD ALTERNATE 4 - REPLACE 4’ TALL FENCE: Drawings are unclear on where existing 4’ fence is (there is a lot of overlap between the 4’ and 6’ fence called out on C200). Drawings do not call out number and location of any gates (equipment or pedestrian) – this information, along with where new fencing would be located should be minimal criteria for accurate pricing on Add Alternate 4. Please clarify.

A12. Add Alternate #4 should include replacement of all fencing and gates adjacent to the synthetic turf. It appears the only 6’ fence adjacent to the field is the curved section opposite the concession building. Previous plans show 4 double gates in the 4’ fence. Each is labeled as 2 x 5’ wide swing gates. However, it is the bidder’s responsibility to verify existing fence onsite. All replacement fence is to be black vinyl coated chain link. See specification section 32 3113, Chain Link Fences and Gates.

Q13. Could there be a pre-established allowance for the base remediation of the existing drainage problem?

A13. In lieu of an allowance, the County has requested a quantity of 50 Cubic Yards of exploration of existing soils be included in the base bid. See question Q9.

Q14. Is the County interested in recycling the existing turf material?

A14. The County is willing to discuss that option with the successful contractor, but not if it incurs a significant additional cost to the County.

This addendum should be acknowledged in the space provided on page 15 of the bid documents and returned with your bid. Failure to do so may result in your bid being deemed non-responsive.
