About this file

This document is Addendum #1 for Bid BL057-25, issued by Gwinnett County's Department of Financial Services Purchasing Division for the Aquatic Center Pool Renovations project. The addendum provides critical clarifications and answers to bidder questions regarding pool renovation work at Best Friend Park and Bethesda Park. Key details include the inclusion of a feature wall and otter slide at the children's pool in the alternate bid, requirements for LifeFloor (or approved alternate) surfacing, tile replacement specifications, and contractor responsibilities for concrete repairs and surface preparation. The document specifies that at Bethesda Park, only missing, chipped, or damaged tiles will be replaced, with the remaining tiles to be cleaned and regrouted.

The addendum addresses several technical specifications, such as tile installation details, surface preparation, and alternative product considerations. Notably, the County will consider alternate products to LifeFloor, requiring bidders to submit product data sheets with their bid if proposing a different solution. Additional clarifications include tile work for benches and stairs at Bethesda Park, confirmation of pebble sheen replacement on the instructional pool's ramp entrance, and verification that LifeFloor is already in use at E.E. Robinson Park's splash pad. Bidders are instructed to acknowledge the addendum on page 18 of the bid documents, with a warning that failure to do so may result in the bid being deemed non-responsive.

ADDENDUM #1

BL057-25, Gwinnett County Aquatic Center Pool Renovations

CLARIFICATIONS:

C1. The feature wall and otter slide in the children’s pool at Best Friend Park Pool shall be included in the scope of work for the Alternate. LifeFloor (or an approved alternate) shall be applied to the wall and slide.

C2. The awarded contractor shall repair any cracks in the coping.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS:

Q1. The specification calls for new tile on the children’s pool at Best Friend Park. When removing the PVC membrane, are we installing the Life Floor product up to new waterline tile or does the Life Floor terminate at the bottom of coping with no waterline tile installation?

A1. The LifeFloor (or approved alternate) shall terminate at the bottom of the coping. However, the depth marker tiles around the children’s pool will need to be replaced. Depth marker pieces shall be installed to replace the signs on the current membrane in the pool.

Q2. The original sub straight has many layers of paint and deteriorating concrete is beneath with hydrostatic migration coming through. Are we bonding the Life Floor product to a compromised surface of paint and/or deteriorated concrete or will the surface/sub straight require repair through a change order? Would you consider a new PVC membrane installation for children’s pool and otter slide instead of Life Floor or would you consider plastering the pool and tiling zero entry with Life Floor on the otter slide if its surface is acceptable/compatible?

A2. LifeFloor (or an approved alternate) shall be installed according to manufacturer specifications.

The awarded contractor shall be responsible for minor concrete repair work prior to the installation of LifeFloor or an approved alternate.

The County will consider alternates to the LifeFloor product. If you intend to bid a product other than what was specified in the bid documents, please state the name of the product you are bidding and include product data sheets with your bid submittal.

Q3. For gutter pool at Best Friend Park and both pools at Bethesda Park, are we removing 100% of tile and installing new tile, which includes all vertical and horizontal tile around perimeter of each pool, with all new tile supplied by Gwinnett County including hand holds, trim, step and bench tile and depth markers?

A3. The gutter pool at Best Friend Park is not a part of the scope of work for this project. At Bethesda Park, only missing, chipped, or damaged tile is to be replaced. The remaining tile and grout are to be cleaned and regrouted. The County will provide all tile that will need to be replaced.

Q4. In the specifications for tile you ask for 90 degree black nosing tile on bench and step and then in another section you reference installing 2” x 2” on vertical and horizontal with radius plaster nosing versus a black tile nosing. Would you clarify what you want installed for each pool?

A4. The children’s pool at Best Friend Park will not need this type of tiling work. For Bethesda Park Pools, on all benches the 2” x 2” tiling on the top part of the bench will need to be installed. The stairs in the lazy river area, as well as the stairs in the 3’ 6” section, will need the 2” x 2” tiling on the horizontal section. The stairs by the play structure will both remain fully tiled and only need any chipped, damaged, or missing tiles to be replaced, and cleaned and regrouted as necessary.

Q5. Does the County have LifeFloor at any other facilities?

A5. Yes, LifeFloor is applied to the splash pad at E.E. Robinson Park.

Q6. Will the finish on the Bethesda Park Instructional Pool pebble sheen?

A6. Yes, the pebble sheen will need to be replaced on the ramp entrance for Bethesda’s Instructional

Pool.

This addendum should be acknowledged in the space provided on page 18 of the bid documents and returned with your bid. Failure to do so may result in your bid being deemed non-responsive.

Thank you, Jake Scarpone
