The Federal Bureau of Prisons is conducting market research in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation, Part 10.
A single solicitation will be issued for Replace SHU Doors at MCC Chicago. The Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP), MCC Chicago, located at 71 West Van Buren, Chicago, IL 60605 intends to make a single award to a responsible entity that will provide all necessary equipment, labor, materials, and incidentals for Replace SHU Doors.
This sources sought questionnaire is for information purposes only. The described requirement may or may not be included in the subsequent solicitation.
A summary of the requirements is as follows:
PROJECT/WORK IDENTIFICATION
A. Summary by References: Work of Contract can be summarized by reference to the conditions of the Contract, corresponding to specification sections, drawings and other documents bound herewith, addenda and modifications to the Contract Documents issued subsequent to the initial solicitation, and including, but not necessarily limited to, printed matter referenced by any of these.
B. All work described in these documents and all work necessary to complete the work as described or shown is to be executed in a thoroughly substantial and workmanlike manner. All work shall be done by persons who are thoroughly experienced in their particular trade or craft. The work includes, but is not necessarily limited to the following description:
The Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) Chicago has a requirement for replacing steel doors and frames at existing cells. This will include elements such as, but not limited to: door/frame demolition, door/frame installation, door hardware, locking mechanisms, existing wall repairs/reinforcement and painting. The existing doors, frames and hardware have exceeded their useful life. MCC Chicago has developed these documents for the solicitation of construction services from a professional contractor.

A few notes regarding all FBOP requirements:
1. The resulting solicitation will be distributed solely through the General Services Administration Federal Business Opportunities website at sam.gov. Hard copies of the solicitation are not available. The website provides download instructions to obtain all documents relating to the solicitation. All future information concerning this acquisition, including the pre-solicitation notices, solicitation, and any subsequent amendments, will be distributed solely through the website. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring the website to ensure they have the most current information about the acquisition.
2. Any contractor interested in obtaining a contract award with the Federal Bureau of Prisons must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) at www.sam.gov. In order to qualify for award, your business size metrics information entered in your SAM registration must be less than or equal to the size standard specified above. You must also have the NAICS code stated. Each bidder's SAM registration will be reviewed by the Government to confirm that your business size meets the small business size standard requirement and the stated NAICS code is listed. All bidders are urged to double check their SAM registration and update as necessary, including the size metrics information and NAICS code.
