About this file
This document contains questions and answers regarding a defined contribution plan solicitation for the management of a locally employed staff pension plan at the U.S. Embassy in Belmopan, Belize. The plan currently has 147 active members, including 18 members participating under a rider contract for employees of the U.S. Peace Corps. There are two deferred members awaiting pension benefits until retirement age. One retired member is receiving a monthly pension annuity. The employer will contribute 3.36% of basic salary for each participant each pay period and employees will contribute 1.7% of basic salary each pay period, with contribution percentages potentially increasing if authorized by the Belize government. Contractors must be able to manage assets in excess of BZD$10,000,000 (USD $5,000,000). The plan currency is the Belizean dollar which is pegged 2:1 to the U.S. dollar. International plans regulated in Guernsey are acceptable, though contractors may contact the Belize Office of Supervisor of Insurance and Private Pensions regarding Belize pension regulations or exemptions.
