About this file
This is a Clarification #1 document issued by Battle Creek Public Schools for an Interior/Exterior Paint project at Fremont International Academy. The project involves painting interior and exterior surfaces across multiple classrooms, corridors, and common areas within the school building. The scope includes prep work, primer application, and finish coats using specified materials: Sherwin Williams Promar 200 (eggshell for walls, semi-gloss for trim/cabinets) for interior spaces and Rustoleum primer with Sherwin Williams Resilience Paint (flat finish) for exterior concrete surfaces. The project schedule runs from June 12, 2019, through August 28, 2019, with specific interim deadlines requiring main floor classrooms (1-8 and 15) and corridors to be completed by August 16, 2019, and lower level classrooms (9-14) completed by August 28, 2019. The bid deadline was extended to Monday, June 10, 2019, at 1:00 p.m., with bid opening at 1:05 p.m. The clarification requests that bidders provide square foot pricing for exterior painting on concrete substrate based on approximately 5,000 square feet, with final scope to be determined in the field.
Bidders must provide detailed cost breakdowns separated by location and scope, including labor rates per worker category, equipment rates, and separate line items for interior prep and painting of classrooms and corridors on both main and lower levels, plus exterior painting. A performance and payment bond is required if the bid exceeds $50,000. The contractor is responsible for all coordination with other trades, site protection, and ensuring work does not interfere with concurrent flooring installation and other finishing activities. Time is identified as essential, and all overtime, weekend work, and shift work costs necessary to meet the established schedule must be included in the base bid at no additional cost. The document includes floor plans indicating specific room dimensions and ceiling heights ranging from 9 feet to 11 feet 5 inches, as well as a color scheme matrix specifying bright white eggshell walls, gloss trim, and multi-colored corridor walls with navy and gold accent stripes.
