About this file
This document is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Department of the Army National Guard regarding the procurement of an Aircraft Wheel Build-up Stand and Assembly Torquing System for their KC-135 fleet. The key details are:
The government is seeking market research and industry expertise to potentially develop a Performance Work Statement (PWS) or Statement of Objectives (SOO) for this acquisition. They are interested in information on market capabilities, industry standards, technological advances, commercial terms and conditions, timelines, pricing, and potential suppliers for a system that can service the wheel assembly of the KC-135 aircraft. The government is specifically interested in characteristics such as wheel capacity, one-person operation, torque range, and touch-screen interface. They are requesting information on feasibility, estimated costs, and pricing structures, but this is not a request for quote. The government is also open to considering other manufacturers that could provide a system to meet their requirements.

Text version
The Model 8731 Wheel Assembly Torquing System provides a convenient, efficient, and reliable means of torquing aircraft main or nose tire bolts. This unit is designed for operation by one mechanic. The Nut Runner software allows the operator to select preloaded wheel information and load all applicable parameters.
Electric nut runners quickly and accurately tighten fasteners to the appropriate torque and angle. An optional pneumatic or electric hoist is used to lift and place the wheel halves onto the complementing Wheel Build-Up Stand (sold separately). The twin spindle nut runner is available in three torque ranges. The system is delivered fully programmed with the wheel torque and angle parameters corresponding to each customer’s preferred wheel part numbers. Bauer’s nut runner spindles accept standard 3/4” and 1” drive sockets (customer provided).
