About this file
This document is a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for the pesticide product Basamid G, which contains the active ingredient dazomet. The SDS provides detailed information on the hazards, first aid, fire-fighting, accidental release, handling, storage, exposure controls, and disposal for this product.
The key details are:
- Basamid G is a restricted use pesticide intended for pre-planting control of weeds, nematodes, and soil diseases. It is classified as harmful if swallowed and very toxic to aquatic life.
- The product can decompose when diluted with water to form the highly toxic and flammable methyl isothiocyanate (MITC), which is fatal if inhaled or in contact with skin.
- Precautions include obtaining special instructions before use, avoiding dust/fumes, and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. The product must be stored in a well-ventilated area away from incompatible materials.
