About this file

This is a Request for Proposal (RFP) issued by the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District (TBAISD) for enterprise storage solutions. The RFP was issued on May 17, 2019, with responses due June 5, 2019 at 3:00 PM and a final award date of June 18, 2019. TBAISD is seeking proposals for two options: a Dell EMC Unity 400H configured with 18 800GB SSDs and 75 1.8TB HDDs for 107.71TB usable capacity, or a Dell EMC Unity 450F with 23 3.84TB SSDs for 65.58TB usable capacity. Additional requirements include two Brocade M6505 24-port 16Gb fiber channel switches licensed for 12 ports each (with option for 24 ports) and three HPE SN1200E dual-port 16Gb fiber channel HBAs.

The current environment consists of Microsoft and Linux servers in a 95% virtualized environment using VMware and backed up to a secondary array using Veeam. TBAISD has been a Dell EMC customer for over 10 years and views EMC technologies as strategic to their mission. Key technical requirements include zero downtime capability (99.9999+ uptime), ability to scale to hundreds of terabytes, capability to run district servers in case of primary data center failure, and compatibility with VMware. The solution must also feature redundant controllers, dual active/active controllers, no single point of failure architecture, and support for flash drives and 16Gb Fibre Channel connectivity. No specific pricing terms or funding sources are mentioned in the RFP.
