Metadata
Capable of selectable metadata overlay in both operator displays and image production.
Embedded metadata

The above derived requirements are referenced below:

EO/IR Sensor Aiming: Threshold and Objective -- EO/IR sensor capable of 360 degrees pan and 90 degrees tilt, providing either gimbaled and/or software stabilized Full Motion Video (FMV) with still captures and zoom capability.

Sensor Lock and Tracking: Threshold and Objective -- EO/IR sensors capable of target lock and automatic loiter on stationary and mobile targets in target tracking and friendly follow me modes.

Day sensor resolution: Threshold – From 300-500 feet AGL, during daytime operations in clear weather, the electro-optic sensor shall provide the GCS operator team sufficient visual resolution to support classification of 1 meter-sized objects (e.g. distinguish between large tools and rifles). Objective -- From 1,000 feet AGL, during daytime operations in clear weather, the electro-optic sensor shall provide the GCS operator team sufficient visual resolution to support classification of 0.5 meter-sized objects (e.g. distinguish between large tools and rifles).

Night sensor resolution: Threshold – From 300-500 feet altitude in clear weather, the IR sensor shall provide the GCS operator team sufficient visual resolution to support classification of 3 meters-sized objects (e.g. distinguish between a truck and a sedan).

Objective – From 1,000 feet altitude in clear weather, the Tier II/STUAS’ IR sensor shall provide the GCS operator team sufficient visual resolution to support classification of 1.5 meters-sized objects (e.g. distinguish between a truck and a sedan).

The Air Vehicle (AV) shall be capable of broadcasting on L, C, or Ku (CDL) frequencies real-time EO/IR imagery with embedded non-proprietary Key Length Variable (KLV) metadata out to a minimum of five (5) nm horizontal range of current RVTs while equipped with an omni-directional antenna (Threshold), 10 nm horizontal range (Objective). Rationale: Provides the tactical commander the ability to receive data from any compatible AV providing him with a real time view of the battlefield in frequencies supportable by currently fielded systems.

Metadata Overlay: Threshold and Objective -- Capable of selectable metadata overlay in both operator displays and image production.

The Air Vehicle shall have a low noise signature to be acoustically non-detectable at the AV mission altitude, typically no greater than 3,000 ft AGL, in Level I (MIL-STD 1474D, Requirement 2) conditions (quiet rural area with closest heavily used highway and community noises at least 2.5 miles away). EO/IR payload performance should be optimized at this altitude (Threshold), and Level II conditions (quietest background noise level with closest heavily used highway and community noises at least 6.2 miles away) (Objective). Rationale: Fills capability gaps identified in the Tier II FNA (avoid visual and noise detection at working altitudes).

The system shall be ruggedized (per MIL-STD 810F and Transportation Engineering Agency PAM 70-1). Rationale: Provide expeditionary capability for worldwide operations.

The system shall be capable of operations in maritime, desert, arctic, urban, mountainous, and jungle environments, (per MIL-HDBK 310) in temperatures from -35° to 130° Fahrenheit, 100% humidity (Threshold). The system shall be capable of operations in Hot and Cold day environments per MIL-STD-810 (Objective). Rationale: Provide expeditionary capability for worldwide operations.

The system shall support an open architecture through the use of standards and current interoperability profiles such as STANAG 4586 (Threshold); Common Data Link (CDL) Specification (Ku TCDL), and the Joint Interoperability Profile (Objective) to facilitate future interchangeability with existing and future unmanned platforms. Rationale: Increases future upgradeability and saves life cycle costs. All services require NATO-STANAG compliance and interoperability with other US services.
