About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) defines the requirements for a subcontractor to provide three spacecraft buses for the ARACHNE project led by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). The subcontractor must design, analyze, manufacture, integrate, and test the buses according to LLNL specifications, with delivery required within 3 years of contract award.

Key requirements include: participating in interface control documentation with LLNL for mechanical, electrical, software and thermal interfaces; integrating LLNL-provided payload with the bus; ensuring operation during all thermal space environments; providing a reduced thermal model; measuring observatory mass to ±1% accuracy; maintaining Class 100,000 or better cleanroom conditions; and supporting launch vehicle integration and 2 months of post-launch checkout. The SOW mandates multiple review phases including System Requirements Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, Test Readiness Review, and Pre-Ship Review. Quality assurance provisions require AS9001 compliance, parts qualification, contamination control, configuration management, and problem/failure reporting. The subcontractor must allow LLNL access to facilities during integration and testing activities and provide regular status updates through bi-weekly teleconferences.
