About this file
This document is a Sources Sought Notice for an Ambient Microplate Storage System - Cytomat Stack. The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) Division of Preclinical Innovation (DPI) Functional Genomics Lab (FGL) is seeking to acquire a CYTOMAT STACK system to integrate with their existing Biomek i7 automated workstation. The purpose is to increase the throughput of plate and liquid handling to support high-volume, high-frequency experiments. The key requirements include a 280-microplate capacity CYTOMAT STACK system with multiple shelves, compatibility with the Biomek i7 workstation, and features to enhance experimental reliability and durability. The government is gathering information on available sources and capabilities to determine the appropriate acquisition strategy. Responses should include information on company size, relevant qualifications, applicable contract vehicles, and other details to demonstrate the ability to meet the requirements. Responses are due by July 11, 2024.

PURCHASE DESCRIPTION
1. Statement of Need and Purpose:
The purpose of this acquisition is to acquire the CYTOMAT STACK for the Functional Genomics Lab (FGL) within the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) Division of Preclinical Innovation (DPI). The CYTOMAT STACK will be integrated with the Biomek i7 automated workstation to optimize dependability and walk-away time in high-throughput laboratories. The Biomek i7 integrated with CYTOMAT STACK will be used in various FGL functions.
2. Background Information and Objective:
The FGL at NCATS has previously purchased Biomek i7 which will contribute to numerous projects demanding accurate liquid handling. However, to increase the throughput of the plate/liquid handling. Integrating CYTOMAT STACKs to Biomek i7 is necessary. CYTOMAT enables high-throughput sample processing. FGL deals with large volumes of samples and high-frequency experiments can benefit greatly from its ability to handle multiple samples simultaneously, thus accelerating research timelines. Furthermore, manual sample handling introduces the risk of contamination or mishandling, which can compromise research integrity. CYTOMAT reduces these risks by minimizing human intervention in sample handling and retrieval processes, thereby enhancing experimental reliability. The equipment's durability and reliability would ensure continuous support for research activities over an extended period.
3. Generic Name of Product:
Ambient Microplate Storage System

5. Salient characteristics Must maintain ambient conditions during the transfer of microplates to/from automated systems and ambient storage/incubation, as this is essential to ensuring viability and therefore reproducibility. Automated workflows need to be set-up in a way which enables cells to be maintained in their ideal conditions during loading/ unloading of labware, as well as during high throughput screening and liquid handling protocols.
Must provide outstanding access times to access plates faster(5-9 secs) Must be SiLA compliant Must be Compatible with standard Cytomat interface commands Must be up to 280 microplate capacity (10 stacker) with validated microplate locations Must have ability to have integrated barcode reader Must accommodate different microplates Needs to offer dual access points Must offer individual application speed setting per microplate
