To Whom It May Concern:
Hamilton is a sole source manufacturer and service provider of the Microlab® robotic liquid handling workstations and CO-RE pipetting tips. In the United States, Hamilton manufactured workstations and tips are not sold or distributed by any other company or organization. The workstations and tips are designed to be used in conjunction with one another to deliver superior pipetting performance with minimum wear and tear on the workstations.
Use of pipetting tips beyond those manufactured by Hamilton can risk damage to the workstation and alter liquid handling performance. Instrument validation is performed with patented CO-RE technology tips.
Hamilton recommends the use of CO-RE technology and is unable to guarantee instrument performance when alternate product is utilized. Pipetting accuracy, trueness, cLLD sensitivity and trouble-free operation may be jeopardized by the use of third-party products.
To achieve the Hamilton published specifications, the design of the liquid handling channel and the pipetting tips have been carefully crafted and patented as CO-RE technology. As is common with all liquid handling workstations, robotic pipetting channels are equipped on each workstation, and each channel picks up a pipetting tip to perform a liquid transfer. This repeated action increases throughput, improves accuracy, and prevents contamination. It also means that the constant and repeated motions of the pipetting channels and tips play a significant role in the outcome of tests and the lifetime of the workstation. Hamilton’s patented CO-RE technology works simply and without excess force to optimize these motions. The technology also helps to ensure consistency in pipetting by creating a tight seal, which allows pressure curves to be monitored and prevents air leaks that may impair performance.
