About this file

This is a sample budget narrative template for a Slip-On Tanker Grant Application under the Department of the Interior's Office of Wildland Fire funding opportunity (D26AS00056). The document provides a framework for applicants to detail estimated project costs across personnel, travel, and equipment categories. The sample shows a $0.00 total budget structure with line items for one day of work by a Volunteer Fire Department Chief to manage equipment purchase and transportation, mileage reimbursement for travel between the applicant's city and the manufacturer's location, and lodging costs during installation. The primary budget component is equipment, which includes the manufacturer's quoted price for the slip-on tanker unit, with the quoted price covering all labor and installation costs and no indirect costs or non-Federal cost share anticipated.

The template requires applicants to document the manufacturer selection rationale based on quality of service, price competitiveness, equipment availability, and ability to meet minimum grant specifications, with the manufacturer's quote attached as supporting documentation. Additionally, the budget narrative must include conflict of interest and unresolved matters disclosures, as well as an overlap or duplication of effort statement confirming that proposed activities and personnel time commitments do not conflict with other Federal proposals or awards. This sample template aligns with the underlying federal grant program (CFDA 15.088) administered by the Department of the Interior, which provides funding to local governments with fire protection responsibilities to acquire slip-on tanker units to enhance wildland firefighting response capabilities, with anticipated awards ranging from $10,000 to $500,000.
