About this file

This Statement of Work (SOW) details the implementation of CheerpJ to modernize Java application execution for the Department of the Interior's IT infrastructure. The primary objectives include transitioning legacy Java applications like the Integrated Transportation Information Management System (ITIMS) to browser-based execution without requiring local Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installations, integrating with Login.gov for secure authentication, and ensuring compatibility with modern browsers like Chrome, Edge, and Firefox.

The SOW outlines a comprehensive approach involving assessment and planning, configuration and deployment, and testing and validation. Key tasks include conducting a detailed analysis of existing Java applications, developing a migration plan, integrating CheerpJ into enterprise portals as a drop-in replacement for local Java Virtual Machines (JVMs), configuring runtime components and features, deploying the solution in the Department of the Interior's Azure cloud environment, and performing functional testing to ensure seamless browser-based Java application execution. The project aims to enhance security, scalability, and user experience by leveraging WebAssembly and HTML5 technologies.

Text version

This Statement of Work outlines the requirements, objectives, and deliverables for implementing CheerpJ to modernize and enable browser-based execution of Java applications, applets, and libraries without requiring locally installed Java Runtime Environment (JRE). The primary goal is to ensure seamless access to legacy Java-based systems such as Integrated Transportation Information Management System (ITIMS) and integration with Login.gov, while leveraging modern web technologies.

1. Objectives Transition legacy Java applications, including ITIMS, to browser-based execution using CheerpJ.

Enable secure authentication mechanisms through Login.gov integration.

Eliminate the need for local JRE installations on end-user devices.

Ensure compatibility with modern browsers such as Chrome, Edge, and Firefox.

Enhance security, scalability, and user experience by leveraging WebAssembly and HTML5 technologies.

2. Scope of Work The implementation of CheerpJ will include the following tasks:

Assessment and Planning Conduct a comprehensive analysis of existing Java applications and applets to identify compatibility requirements.

Develop a migration plan for transitioning Java applications to CheerpJ runtime.

3. Configuration and Deployment

Integrate CheerpJ into enterprise portals as a drop-in replacement for local JVMs.

Configure CheerpJ runtime components.

Configure clipboard and printing features.

4. Deploy CheerpJ on the application web server hosted in the Department of the Interior

Azure cloud environment.

5. Testing and Validation Perform functional testing to ensure that Java applications run seamlessly within the browser environment.
