SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
Qty 2- Savillex DST-1000 Acid Purification System BRAND NAME OR EQUAL
General Product Description:
The USGS isotope geochemistry facility in building 95 houses two class 10,000 (or better) clean labs and associated TIMS and ICP-MS laboratories. The group is growing and capabilities are expanding such that there is increased demand for high purity (10 ppt) grade acids for preparation of standards, sample dilutions, ion exchange chemistry, and sample digestions. Two additional acid distillation systems (e.g. Savillex DST-1000) are needed to support on-going and developmental research in clean lab 1 and associated mass spectrometry labs. One acid purification system will be used for the production of high purity hydrochloric acid and the second purification system will be dedicated for the production of high purity nitric acid. The ability to produce high purity grade acids at a rate of 500 mL over approximately 12 hours will meet the demands of facility researchers. High-purity PFA parts within the distillation units ensures produced acids will meet and/or exceed the quality specifications for all procedures performed in the facility.
The ability to produce high purity acids in an efficient, cost-effective, and safe manner is a critical function of any isotope geochemistry clean lab and supported ICP-MS/TIMS facility. High purity (10 ppt) grade acids are required to make high precision isotope ratio measurements, especially when analyzing nanogram quantities of Pb, U, Sr, and REE isotopes. High purity grade acids are expensive to purchase in the volumes needed to support an isotope geochemistry facility. A safe and less expensive option is for the lab to produce high purity acid through sub-boiling distillation of trace metal (1 ppb) grade acid. This process is both efficient and economic.
Detailed Product Specifications:
