Submersible Spectrofluorometer

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:

2ea. Probe:

1. Shall be a submersible type instrument capable of (1) measuring chlorophyll content in water (total content) and (2) quantitative determination of different algae classes, down to a water depth of at least 100 meters.

2. Shall have a titanium housing and be designed for use in salt-water environments.

3. Shall be capable of measuring total chlorophyll, green algae, cyanobacteria, diatoms, and cryptophytes.

4. Shall measure chlorophyll over a range of at least 0-200 μg chl-a/l.

5. Shall be capable of measuring hydrostatic pressure (pressure sensor) to a depth of at least 100 meters.

6. Shall be capable of measuring CDOM (Colored Dissolved Organic Matter), (i.e. yellow substances) and capable of automatic corrections.

7. Shall be capable of making at least 4 measurements per second.

8. Shall allow for turbidity corrections.

9. Shall include an internal data logger with a 612 MB (minimum) memory card.

10. Shall not require sample preparation.

11. Shall include an RS-485 and USB communication interface.

12. Shall NOT have an internal battery.

13. Shall be capable of being powered from an external 12 VDC power source.

14. Shall not require the use of any chemicals or reagents.

15. Shall include hard plastic transport case, power supply, protection cap, USB adapter, USB stick, manual, and operational software.

2 ea. Transmission Sensor:

16. Shall be compatible with the fluoroprobe described above.

17. Shall include a sensor capable of measuring turbidity (transmission) from 0 to 100%.

2 ea. Temperature Sensor:

18. Shall be compatible with the fluoroprobe described above.

19. Shall include a water temperature sensor capable of measuring temperature over a range of at least -2 to

40 degrees C.

1 ea. Hydro-Wiper Field Kit:

20. Shall be compatible with the fluoroprobe described above.

21. Shall consist of a mechanical wiper system for cleaning the fluoroprobe sensor window surfaces.

22. Shall be submersible to at least 30 meters.

23. Shall be capable of attaching directly to the fluoroprobe.

24. Shall have interchangeable brushes.

25. Shall include hardware (i.e. screws, etc.) for mounting the wiper to the fluoroprobe.

28. Shall be capable of being operated underwater or in a monitoring station.

29. Shall include all hardware and parts, including hose connections, for mounting the unit to the fluoroprobe.

1 ea. Underwater Cable:

30. Shall be compatible with the fluoroprobe described above.

31. Shall be capable of providing power and/or communications.

32. Shall be at least 3 meters long.
