Lake Havasu National Wildlife Refuge Complex Parker, Arizona
June 2022
BACKGROUND
The Refuge stations of the Lake Havasu Refuge Complex include Bill Williams National NWR and Havasu NWR. This Statement of Work summarizes the justification for the purchase of a gun reel irrigation system including supply hoses and gas-powered pump to be used to irrigate seeded areas adjacent to river channels in an area which was impacted by the Planet Ranch Fire in June of 2021.
DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT NEEDS
Notes:
Bill Williams River NWR manages 6,100-acres for native wildlife/plants and for public enjoyment. In June of 2021 the planet ranch fire ignited and burned approximately 1,200 acres of the refuges forest and marsh habitat. This year the refuge staff will replant 100 acres of that habitat in native vegetation. To ensure optimal survival of the planting an irrigation system is needed. Water is available to be pumped from the river channel adjacent to the planting area and will be delivered to the plants by a water/ gun reel sprinkler system. A 13-acre area will be broadcast seeded with mesquite seed and irrigated to increase germination and survival of the seed. The system will need to have the following specifications. Kifco 2-inch x 580-foot hard hose reel, 900 feet of 3 inch lay flat supply line, a two-stage high pressure water pump with a 9 horsepower Honda gasoline engine, 20 feet of 3-inch suction hose, all hoses and water lines must have appropriate fittings. The unit needs to water 2.5 acres in a day of operation. The total cost for the system including shipping is $17,818.56. The system must be delivered by September 1, 2022, to meet a planting date of September 15, 2022.
Scope of Work:
1. Provide irrigation to 12.5 acres of seeded ground 2.5 acres per day over 5 days.
2. Pump must be gasoline powered and be capable of supplying water to the sprinkler through a 900-foot-long supply line at sufficient pressure to operate the sprinkler at full capacity.
3. System must be delivered by September 1, 2022
