About this file
This is a Description of Requirements document for a federal procurement by the ERDC Environmental Laboratory, Environmental Chemistry Branch (EPC), under the US Army.
The requirement is for the purchase and delivery of a Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) system to support material synthesis and densification research activities. The specific items required include: one SPS2000 Series system; one upgrade for 70kN/3000A (46kVA) capability; one Cal Nano Upgraded High Strength Graphite Tooling Package; one computer; and one Chiller System for SPS2000. The SPS2000 system specifications include maximum pressure capabilities of 30-70 kN depending on configuration, a 150mm stroke, 200mm open height, servo motor pressurization, maximum temperature of 2500°C, and a vacuum chamber with rectangular-shaped design and front-door cooling system. The DC Pulse Generator supports maximum output of 1000-3000 amperes with ON/OFF pulse control (PWM), adjustable pulse settings, and scalable output capacity in 500A increments up to 3000A. The Control Unit includes an 8-channel data acquisition system (DAS), digital readout with 0.001mm minimum resolution, emergency stop safety systems, high vacuum capability up to 5 x 10-3 Pa, Windows 10 English version PC, cooling water circulation system, and mounted glove box system. Mandatory delivery date is no later than July 30, 2026.
