About this file
This document is a Salient Characteristics specification for an Autonomous Underwater/Surface Vehicle procurement by the US Geological Survey (USGS). The requirement calls for 5 autonomous underwater vehicles capable of collecting Conductivity, Temperature, and Depth (CTD) measurements, with additional capabilities including surface and subsurface data collection, GPS/IMU functionality, and swarm operation. Each vehicle must be compact (2.75" diameter x 38" length), weigh under 6.75 lbs, operate at speeds up to 10 knots, have a 5-mile surface range, and maintain a 36-hour continuous battery life across temperatures from 0-30°C.
The procurement also includes a comprehensive Command and Control System with accessories, consisting of a communications hub, user interface (comparable to a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite), 10 spare battery packs, 6 battery chargers, a lightweight tripod, operational software, and protective transport cases. The solicitation (140G0126Q0019) is scheduled for quote submission around 12/29/2025, with an anticipated contract award on 12/22/2025. The procurement is under NAICS code 334511 with a size standard of 1,350 employees, and vendors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) to be eligible.
