About this file

This file contains technical specifications for three geosynthetic products used in slope and channel protection: the ATRA® Key, ATRA® Speed Stake, and MIRAFI® 160N geotextile.

The ATRA® Key is a polymeric composite connection device for joining Geoweb® geocell sections, measuring 1.305 in long, 2.05 in wide, and 0.38 in thick, with a pull-through strength of 275 lbs. The ATRA® Speed Stake is a one-piece polymer-molded anchor designed for Geoweb geocell installations, featuring a barbed rod and stake shape for increased holding force. The MIRAFI® 160N is a needlepunched nonwoven geotextile made of polypropylene fibers, with mechanical properties including a grab tensile strength of 160 lbs, an apparent opening size of 70 U.S. sieve, and 80% UV resistance after 500 hours. These products are intended for erosion control, slope stabilization, and soil retention applications, with specifications meeting various ASTM standards and the Build America, Buy America Act requirements.

PRESTO GEOSYSTEMS 670 N PERKINS STREET, APPLETON, WISCONSIN, USA 54914

Ph: 920-738-1328 or 800-548-3424 ■ Fax: 920-738-1222 e-mail: INFO@PRESTOGEO.COM WWW.PRESTOGEO.COM 1 JANUARY 2016

Description:

The ATRA® key is a device to connect adjacent Geoweb® sections either end-to-end, or side-to-side through Geoweb material slots. The ATRA key is composed of a wider top for handling and a more narrow bottom for inserting through the Geoweb cell wall slot. The ATRA key shall be inserted through two adjoining Geoweb sections with the slots aligned, and turned 90 degrees to lock the key in position. If removal is required, the ATRA key may be unlocked and removed by turning the key 90 degrees from the locked position and removing the device from the slots.

ATRA SPEED STAKE

Design & Performance

Barbs and engineered stake shape adds increased level of holding force.

ATRA Speed Stake Equivalence:

16 inch ≥ 18 inch rebar/GFRP Anchor

20 inch ≥ 24 inch rebar/GFRP Anchor

* GFRP: Glass fiber-reinforced polymer

Specially engineered polymer blend material for highest strength and durability.

Corrosion resistant, non-metallic anchors suitable for use in acidic soils, saltwater applications or where extended design-life is required.

Flat polymeric head eliminates tire punctures on load support applications where permanent anchors are required (vs. rebar solutions).

High resistance to acids/bases/salinity.

Polymeric material delivers long-term durability in corrosive soils & conditions.

GEOWEB® ANCHOR

ATRA® SPEED STAKE

Fast, Efficient Anchors

One piece unit requires no assembly. No bending of rebar, attaching

ATRA clips to rebar, or sourcing rebar elsewhere.

Lighter than comparable rebar or GFRP anchors results in lower freight cost and easier handling on site.

Can be handled with bare hands (not recommended for GFRP an-chors due to potential for glass-fiber slivers/shards).

Pointed anchor tip easily punctures through geotextile underlayer better than rebar or GFRP stakes for faster installation.

Can be driven with pneumatic Hilti or SDS-compatible drivers for fastest, lowest-impact driving.

Barbed rod & stake shape for higher holding force with a shorter anchor length & faster to drive.

Flat head & double-sided flanged arms for fast anchor driving, maximum cell wall engagement and hold down power.

One-Piece Polymer Molded Anchors.

ATRA® Speed Stakes are engineered to provide maximum anchorage and resistance to sliding and uplift forces. Designed for use with GEOWEB geo-cells for crest, toe, and internal anchoring (with or without tendons), ATRA Speed Stakes are extremely fast to install, deliver a strong holding force and are highly resistant to corrosive environments.

Geoweb® geocells are an economical solution for erosion control. The 3-dimensional Geoweb structure holds the upper soil layer on the slope and prevents washout from water action or other erosive forces. In sandy soils, subject to wind erosion, the Geoweb® system helps retain soils until vegetation has a chance to establish itself. On steeper slopes, the Geoweb® system can help to hold embankment soils in place.

Installation There are multiple methods of installing Geoweb which will depend mainly on the application. The two primary anchorage methods when installing Geoweb on a slope are Atra Anchors (stakes) and /or tendons connected to a deadman pipe at the crest. When using Atra anchors (typically GFRP rods or 10M rebar with a special Atra Clip on top), precut the anchors to the design length and push them into the slope at 90 degrees to the slope at the required spacing. The installation can be accomplished using sledge hammers or with the Hilti Atra® Driver System (The Hilti Atra® Driver System can increase productivity by up to 400%). When using tendons, the tendons are pre-threaded through the pre-cut slots in the Geoweb and knotted at Atra Clips within the Geoweb cells at specified intervals down the slope. The Geoweb cells are then filled with the designated backfill (topsoil, gravel, or concrete) and may be covered with an erosion blanket.
