BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT

WOOD CANYON FIRE ESR FENCE REPAIR

GILA DISTRICT – SAFFORD FIELD OFFICE

STATEMENT OF WORK

1. PURPOSE FOR WORK

Replace 0.6 miles of allotment boundary fencelines for allotments managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The fencelines directly impacted by the fire include 0.6 miles of allotment boundary fences between the High Lonesome Allotment and Midway Canyon Allotment. The fence consisted of a combination of steel and wooden material and therefore resulted in fencelines becoming damaged to the point of nonfunction. Repair of fencelines is necessary for livestock grazing management, and to prevent unauthorized grazing from occurring. If the fence repair is not completed there could be imminent danger to livestock as unauthorized cattle could affect the amount of forage available on each allotment for both livestock and wildlife. The naturalness of the Peloncillo Wilderness could also be impacted by the result of unauthorized cattle negatively impacting the health of the rangeland.
