About this file

This is a Statement of Need for an eDNA autosampling platform procurement by the USGS New York Water Science Center. The agency requires the purchase of one autosampler to support invasive species biosurveillance efforts across international borders and the New York State Canal System. The platform must collect, filter, and preserve eight or more eDNA water samples using preloaded 47-mm diameter PES or MCE filters with 5 micrometer pore size, maintaining 95% water volume accuracy. The equipment must feature self-preserving filter housing using desiccation for preservation, integrated GPS capability, battery operation for up to 30 days or shore power option, and weigh 100 pounds or less. The autosampler must include a user-friendly interface, programmable consecutive or scheduled sample collection, and evidence of independent third-party validation and testing.

The solicitation (140G0126Q0060) will be issued as a Request for Quote on or about March 6, 2026, with written quotes due by March 11, 2026. The anticipated award date is March 13, 2026, with delivery required within 60 days of order receipt to Troy, New York. Vendors must be registered in SAM.gov to be considered for award. The NAICS code is 334516 with a size standard of 1,000 employees. Interested vendors should submit responses to rlanderson@usgs.gov. Statement of Work

USGS NYWSC PI requests purchase of 1 eDNA autosampling platform to support biosurveillance efforts at the New York Water Science Center. This purchase will enable more cost-effective and efficient monitoring of invasive species across international borders and in the New York State Canal System. Failure to efficiently monitor in these areas can lead to negative impacts to regional economies and recreational opportunities, and increased future costs to manage an established invasive species.

This platform must meet or exceed the following specifications:

· Collect, filter, and preserve 8 or more eDNA water samples,

· Uses filters that are preloaded and do not require any handling in the field; it can remain ‘closed’ until safely back in the lab,

· Must integrate self-preserving filter housing using desiccation as preservation method to simplify shipping process,

· Uses 47-mm diameter PES or MCE filters that include 5 µm pore size options,

· Water volume accuracy of ≥ 95%,

· Includes a GPS,

· Can be programmed to collect consecutive samples and/or collect samples on a user-defined scheduled,

· Run off of battery for up to 30 days or shore power,

· Weigh 100 lb or less,

· User-friendly interface for operation and data retrieval,

· Evidence of 3rd-party (independent) validation and testing,

· Package must include a shipping/transportation case, at least two batteries, and all necessary accessories for basic operation
