Statement of Work CERC Pond 20 Leak Repair

1. General Information

a. Background: The Columbia Environmental Research Center (CERC) conducts research needed to address national and international environmental contaminant issues and effects of habitat alterations on aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. CERC has 33 research ponds located on its 33-acre campus. Ponds are used for aquatic research. Ponds are separated by earthen pond banks approximately 12’ (3.6 meter) wide. Pond 20 is one of many small ponds that were renovated in 2010 which included the installation of new kettle drains and drain lines. Pond #20 is fed by a 3” water supply pipe on the south side and a 2” water supply pipe on the north side. It is approximately 95’ (28.9 meter) x 65’ (19.8 meter) and has a sloping floor from north to south with a maximum depth if approximately 8’ (2.4 meter). The drain kettle is located on the south side of the pond. All of the pond drains feed into a series of drain lines that ultimately feed into a research waste-water lagoon. Drain lines are grouted into the bottom of the kettles. Pond drains are controlled by slide gates built into the kettles.
