PRECAST CONCRETE WATER CONTROL STRUCTURES AND END SECTIONS:
Precast concrete inline riser structure, precast concrete inlet riser structure, and inlet/outlet end sections shall conform to the sizes and dimensions as shown on the plans.
Precast concrete inline riser structure shall have one of either of the following: single galvanized steel stoplog guide or two (twin) weir bays for stoplogs.
Precast concrete inlet riser structure shall have two (twin) weir bays for stoplogs.
Each structure shall have a minimum 5-foot long stub of pipe cast into the structure with the type and dimension equal to that of the attached pipe as specified herein and on the plans.
Precast concrete structures shall have a concrete collar cast into the structure to reinforce the pipe stub.
The end of the pipe stub to be cast into the concrete structure shall be cut even and square, and set flush with the face of concrete. Structures shall have the pipe cast such that the invert is at or near the structure flowline or as shown on the plans.
Structures indicated on the plans to have canal gates installed shall have the pipe stub cast such as to allow sufficient clearance for canal gate frame mounting on the structure face. Such structures shall have threaded inserts cast into the structure in locations necessary for the mounting of control gate frames. The surface of pipe to be embedded into concrete shall be clean of oils, dirt, and loose debris prior to being cast into the structure. When a steel or PVC stub of pipe is to be cast into the concrete structure, an adhesive, preformed, nonswelling waterstop shall be used to provide a watertight bond.
The waterstop shall be applied to the pipe stub end to be cast into the structure. The surface of pipe shall be clean of oils, dirt, rust and loose debris prior to application of the preformed adhesive strip. A primer is not required. The waterstop should be positioned around the circumference of the pipe at center of the concrete wall or slab. Once the waterstop is wrapped around the circumference of the pipe, it should overlap itself approximately 1 inch. The waterstop should be firmly pressed against the pipe. Remove protective release paper and ensure that there are no gaps (especially at overlaps or splices). Make certain that the waterstop is securely adhered to pipe and kept clean of dirt, dust and debris before pouring concrete. All structures shall be manufactured by Wilbert Precast, Briggs Manufacturing, or approved equal. Waterstop shall be Synko-Flex Waterstop type SF302 manufactured by Henry Company, or approved equal.
