About this file

This document is a Certified Material Test Report for black powder, specifying detailed testing and documentation requirements for materials supplied under MIL-DTL-223D military specification. The report mandates comprehensive test documentation for each shipment, requiring suppliers to provide a certified test report that includes supplier details, purchase order number, material identification, quantity, and specific test results covering parameters such as materials composition, moisture, ash, specific gravity, density, granulation, particle characteristics, glaze finish, pH, and workmanship. The document emphasizes that these test reports are in addition to standard contract inspection provisions and must include an authorized representative's signature attesting to the accuracy of the test results.

The specific technical requirements highlighted include a .030 inch nominal thickness for fiberboard liner, which must be tightly and spirally wound at a 45 ± 15 degree angle, with layers bonded together using polyvinyl acetate resin adhesive following ASTM D4317 or A-A-1270 standards. Horizontal gaps between windings are restricted to a maximum of 0.06 inches, indicating precise manufacturing specifications for the material's construction and assembly.
