Project Name: Controlled Temp Rooms Data/Voice Wiring

Project Location: Department of the Interior (DOI) U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Wetland and Aquatic Research Center (WARC) 7920 NW 71 Street Gainesville, FL 32653

General Description/Background

Wetland and Aquatic Research Center (WARC) has a requirement to provide “new” data and voice connectivity in Controlled Temp Rooms #46 & #47. The walls of these rooms are constructed of cinder blocks and require surface raceway(s)/outlet box(es) and drilling as needed. Please refer to the following PDF files regarding wall jack outlets placement, etc.; MainBuilding, DataVoice_CTRooms and JackInfo.

Work to be Completed

1. Provide Cat6A (or better) 10GS, UTP, Plenum Rated (CMP) cable for data drops running from a patch panel in Server Room (Room# 12) to jacks in Controlled Temp Rooms

a. Provide modular 24-port patch panel to be installed in an existing rack in the server room. Patch panel must be able to accept Cat6A 10Gigabit type keystone jack which meets the TIA-568-B.2-10 standard for Augmented Category 6 (Cat 6A) from 1 MHz to 500 MHz in support of the IEEE 802.3an standard for 10GBASE-T network performance.

b. Provide Cat6A keystone jacks (white in color) for both the patch panel and outlet jacks.

c. Cat6A cabling on patch panels and keystone jacks are to be terminated via TIA-568-B.2-10 standard and neatly fastened via cable management products where applicable.

2. Provide Cat5e Plenum (CMP) cable for voice drops running from 66-block in PBX Room (Room# 39) to jacks in Controlled Temp Rooms

STATEMENT

OF

WORK

b. Provide keystone jacks (white in color) and terminate according to TIA- 568-B.2-10 standard referenced in section 1.a. to allow for the connecting of IP phones to existing Avaya phone system.

c. Cat5e termination

i. 66-block: per cable is to be terminated on terminals on the left side of the block and follow the order (clarification will be provided if needed)

1. 1st pair: White Blue/Blue

2. 2nd pair: White Orange/Orange

3. 3rd pair: White Green/Green

ii. Keystone jacks are to be terminated via TIA 568B standard as referenced in section 1.a.

3. Penetrating Cinder Block Walls

a. Wire drops into Server, PBX and Controlled Temp Rooms must be via a 4” PVC conduit that will be installed from the hall area above the ceiling line.

b. The 4” PVC conduit where it touches the cinder block must be sealed with a minimum 2-hour rating fire retardant.

c. The opening of the conduit facing the room once all cabling has been installed must be sealed with a reusable putty.

4. Wire Runs

a. Between rooms will be located above ceiling tile line and secured via a form of cable management (ie. J-Hooks, L-Brackets, etc.)

b. From ceiling area down to jacks will be enclosed in surface mounted Panduit and jack outlets (both are to be white in color).
