About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) details the U.S. Geological Survey's (USGS) requirements for transporting laboratory equipment from its Geomorphology and Sediment Transport Laboratory in Golden, Colorado to the Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility (HIF) in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The equipment to be moved includes specialized scientific instruments such as a sediment shaker "Ro-Tap" with sieves, Visual accumulation tube, sediment drying oven, ladders, pallet racks, Signal Processing Dop2000 probes, SeaTek Ultrasonic ranging system, a Craftsman toolbox with tools, Westinghouse generator, and a whiteboard on wheels.
The vendor's responsibilities include conducting a site visit to assess equipment quantity and requirements, carefully packing and palletizing items using plastic wrap or fasteners, loading the equipment into a suitable truck, transporting it from Colorado to Alabama, and unloading at the HIF loading dock. All boxed items are to remain boxed, with USGS HIF personnel responsible for moving the equipment to its final locations within the facility. The SOW provides specific details about the pickup location (4620 Technology Drive, Suite 400, Golden, CO) and delivery destination (27 Kirkbride Lane, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401).

1.0 INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Water Mission Area, Observing Systems Division, has a need to transport laboratory equipment from its present location at the USGS Geomorphology and Sediment Transport Laboratory (GSTL) in Golden, Colorado to the new USGS Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility (HIF) in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The equipment will be used by instructors and researchers in the HIF hydraulics laboratory. This statement of work describes the government’s requirements.
2.0 SCOPE
The equipment, not limited to this list, includes: sediment shaker "Ro-Tap" with sieves, Visual accumulation "VA" tube with 2 settling tubes/diameters, Sediment drying oven, 8' and 4' ladders, 10' H x ~16.5' L x 3.5' W pallet racks, with 3 adjustable wire shelves, Signal Processing Dop2000 probes, SeaTek Ultrasonic ranging system, Craftsman toolbox with hand and power tools, Westinghouse 7500 W generator with remote, 6' W x ~3' L whiteboard on wheels and other miscellaneous items. The vendor will:
1. Conduct a site visit to the USGS Geomorphology and Sediment Transport Laboratory 4620 Technology Drive, Suite 400, Golden, Co 80403, to assess the quantity, volume, and weight of equipment to understand the type of equipment (e.g. forklift, dollies) and personnel necessary for packing, lifting, and loading the objects on the truck. Vendor will inspect the loading zone for access and clearance necessary for truck.
2. Place the equipment and boxes on pallets as appropriate and practical. Vendor will use plastic wrap or fasteners to prevent equipment from sliding off the pallets while in transport.
3. The vendor will place the equipment into a suitable truck.
4. The vendor will transport the equipment from Golden, Colorado to the USGS
Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility (HIF) located at 27 Kirkbride Lane, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, 35401.
5. The vendor will off load the equipment from the truck at the HIF loading dock. All boxed items are to be left boxed; no unboxing is required. USGS HIF personnel with then move equipment to required/appropriate locations within the HIF.
