About this file
This document is a Salient Characteristics specification for a Non-Contact Radar Water Level Sensor (Model VegaPuls C 23 or equal) required by the USGS Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility. The technical requirements specify an 80 GHz measurement frequency technology device capable of measuring water levels at data collection sites nationwide with a total measurement uncertainty of no more than 0.01 ft or 0.1% of indicated reading across a temperature range of -40° to 60°C.
The sensor must have specific capabilities including: measurement range up to 30m (98 feet), beam angle no larger than 4°, 12 VDC power source compatibility, SDI-12 interface, IP66/68 mechanical rating, integrated Bluetooth communication, and a minimum 15 ft integral SDI-12 communication/power cable. A mounting bracket option is required. This specification is related to solicitation 140G0125Q0042, which seeks to procure 125 units under a small business set-aside with NAICS code 334513, with quotes due January 30, 2025, at 8:00 AM ES and an anticipated award date of February 20, 2025.
