About this file
This document outlines the salient characteristics for a multi-parameter water quality sonde and flow cell required by the U.S. Geological Survey Office of Acquisitions and Grants. The sonde must have at least four ports for user-replaceable sensors compatible with measuring temperature, conductivity, pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, rhodamine, ORP, total algae, FDOM, ammonium, chloride, and UV nitrate. Additional requirements for the sonde include supporting various communications protocols, internal data logging capacity, operating temperature range, size restrictions, auto-sensor recognition, wet-mateable connectors, status indicators, and inclusion of calibration equipment and software. The flow cell must allow the specified sonde to collect groundwater samples from wells and include various fittings, lubricant, and instructions. Seven each of the sondes and flow cells are required to be provided in accordance with the outlined salient characteristics.

Salient Characteristics S23146
MULTI-PARAMETER WATER QUALITY SONDE
Salient Characteristics
7 EA, Multi-Parameter Water Quality Sonde without battery:
1. Shall consist of a multi-parameter water quality sonde with at least 4 ports for compatible user-replaceable sensors.
2. Shall be powered from an external 12 VDC power source only and require no internal batteries.
3. Shall be compatible with a range of sensors including, but not limited to, temperature, conductivity, pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, rhodamine, ORP, total algae, FDOM, ISE ammonium, ISE chloride, and UV nitrate.
4. Shall be capable of supporting SDI-12, RS-232, and USB communications.
5. Shall include wireless Bluetooth communications.
6. Shall have internal data logging with ability to store at least 1,000,000 readings.
7. Shall have a sample rate of at least 4 Hz.
8. Shall operate over a temperature range from at least -5 to 50o C.
9. Shall be no larger than 2.0 inches in diameter and 18 inches in length with guard.
10. Shall have the ability to auto-recognize any sensor in any port.
11. Shall include “wet-mateable” connectors allowing cable changes in wet conditions and providing protection against corrosion.
12. Shall have LED indicators for sonde status and Bluetooth status.
13. Shall have a removable bail for suspending the sonde.
14. Shall include calibration cup, tool kit, and at least two (2) port plugs.
15. Shall include compatible software that allows users to manage, visualize, and organize field data collected from a sonde. In addition, the software shall support:
- viewing live and recorded data,
- sensor calibration,
- managing deployment of a sonde (setup sonde for unattended logging),
- a graphical user interface for data analysis.
7 EA, Flow Cell:
16. Shall allow the sonde list above to collect water quality samples at ground water wells.
17. Shall include 3/8-inch and 1/4-inch fittings, lubricant, and instruction guide.
