About this file

This document outlines salient characteristics for a precipitation gage and related accessories required under Solicitation Number 140G0123Q0231 issued by the Department of the Interior US Geological Survey Office of Acquisitions and Grants. The precipitation gage must be capable of recording liquid, solid, and mixed precipitation in all weather conditions with a heater ring. It must have a 400 cm2 or larger collecting area, be able to record a minimum of 750mm of precipitation, and use a weighing measurement method with lifetime factory calibration. Additional requirements include measurement ranges, thresholds, accuracy levels, digital interfaces, electrical specifications, operating temperature and humidity ranges, and IP65 housing. Compatible installation accessories that must be provided include a 4-inch diameter stainless steel installation tube allowing a 1.0-meter installation height and a shielded cable with at least 7x0.75mm2 conductors per meter for the heating unit.
