About this file

This document is a set of Salient Characteristics for a Remote Control System for Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP's). The required system must be compatible with Teledyne RD Instruments ADCP models StreamPro and River Ray/RiverPro, and include a propulsion system, communication/power module, handheld remote control, rechargeable batteries, and mounting hardware. The converted ADCP systems must be capable of remote-controlled maximum speeds of at least 5 ft/sec for StreamPro and 9.5 ft/sec for RiverRay/RiverPro, with cruise speeds of at least 3 ft/sec and 4.5 ft/sec respectively. The system must have a communication range of at least 300 ft and battery life of at least 1.5 hours at cruise speed.

The related federal contract opportunity is a Request for Quote (RFQ) from the U.S. Geological Survey South Atlantic Water Science Center for the delivery of this Remote Control System for ADCP's. The RFQ will be issued on or about 7/19/2024 with quotes due by 7/25/2024. This is a total small business set-aside with a NAICS code of 334516 and a size standard of 1000 employees. 1. Shall consist of a kit that allows ADCP flotation devices to be converted to a remote controlled, unmanned surface vehicle (USV) system.

2. The kit shall be compatible with the Teledyne RD Instruments StreamPro and River Ray/RiverPro

ADCP’s.

3. The kit, at a minimum, shall include a propulsion system (thrusters), a communication/power module, a hand-held remote control, rechargeable batteries/charger(s) for each ADCP, mounting hardware, and cabling.

4. When converted, the ADCP’s shall be capable of the following remotely controlled operating speeds:

Streampro ADCP - maximum speed of least 5.0 ft./sec. and cruise speed of at least 3 ft/s.

RiverRay/RiverPro.- maximum speed of at least 9.5 ft./sec. and cruise speed of at least 4.5 ft/s.

5. Remote control shall be hand-held and include a display and joystick.

6. System shall have a communication range of at least 300 ft.

7. Both versions shall be capable of operating from rechargeable battery packs capable of powering the unit for at least 1.5 hours of continuous run-time at cruising speed.
