About this file

This is a Salient Characteristics document (S26056) for a federal contract opportunity specifying an Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) system for flow measurements and bathymetry surveys.

The primary deliverable is one portable, inflatable, self-propelled, battery-powered, remote-controlled USV designed to interface with Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) systems for river discharge measurements and bathymetry surveys. The USV must be capable of one-person deployment and support both autonomous moving boat and stationary discharge measurements with speeds up to 4 m/s. Key technical specifications include: compatibility with Sontek Model M9 ADCP and Power Communications Module; a handheld remote controller with 5-inch color screen and minimum 1 km transmitter range; dual GNSS with heading functionality and RTK options; autonomous waypoint-based navigation and return-to-home capabilities; Bluetooth and Wi-Fi communications; minimum 6-hour runtime on standard DeWalt-compatible 18v rechargeable batteries; built-in HD 1080p front-facing camera with live streaming; splash-proof housing for electronics; dimensions not exceeding 1.7 m x 0.8 m x 0.1 m with maximum weight of 15 lbs without batteries; operational temperature range of -10 to 45°C; and comprehensive software for system setup, mission planning, and ADCP measurement functions. The system shall be delivered with an inflation pump, patch kit, mounts for Sontek M9 and Power Communications Module, carry bag, spare propellers, and required interface cabling.

Additional deliverables include one mount/fixture compatible with Teledyne RiverPro ADCP systems, one multiport cable (PMIL-8-FS-IM Impulse 8 conductor female low profile connector pigtail or equivalent) for interfacing with Teledyne RiverPro ADCP systems, and one day of on-site field engineering/project manager services covering system setup, operation, deployment, data retrieval, communications, software, and maintenance.
