About this file
This is a Salient Characteristics document specifying requirements for refrigerated water samplers and associated equipment. The procurement calls for two (2) each of refrigerated water samplers, sampling bottles configurations, suction lines, and pump tubing.
The refrigerated water samplers must be automated units designed for outdoor, corrosive environments with corrosion-resistant and UV-resistant materials. Key operational specifications include 120 VAC, 60 Hz power supply, SDI-12 compatibility, at least 512 KB data logging memory, EPA-recommended sample preservation at 39°F (4°C), built-in freeze prevention, capacity for 24 polypropylene 1-liter bottles, and maximum dry weight of 165 lbs. The pump shall support vinyl suction tubing 3 to 25 feet long, provide automatic head height compensation, lift capacity of 25 feet, tubing life of at least 1,000,000 pump counts, repeatability of ±5 ml or ±5%, and sample delivery velocity of at least 2 ft./sec. The controller requires non-volatile ROM memory, operational temperature range of 32°F to 120°F, NEMA 4X, 6 (IP67) enclosure rating, clock accuracy of 1 minute per month, and capability for programmable composite samples from 1 to 999 samples. Operations specifications include programmable sample volumes of 10 to 9,990 ml in 1 ml increments, sampling modes for uniform time, non-uniform time, flow, and event, automatic suction line rinsing up to three times per collection, sample retry capability, up to 24 stop/resume commands, storage for at least five sampling programs, and diagnostic testing for RAM, ROM, pump, display, and distributor functions. Associated equipment includes sampling bottle configurations with racks, retaining rings, caps, discharge tubes, and minimum 24 polypropylene 1-liter bottles; 3/8" x 25 lg. vinyl suction lines with standard strainer and coupler; and pre-cut silicone rubber pump tubing with alignment bands (5 pieces cut to 32.25" length).
