About this file

This is a Salient Characteristics document (S25108) for a non-contact radar level/velocity/discharge measurement system procurement. The document specifies requirements for one non-contact discharge measurement system capable of continuous measurement and one interface cable.

The system must measure water velocity, water level, and compute water discharge with specific performance standards: water level accuracy of ±0.025 mm (1 mm resolution), velocity accuracy of +/-0.01 m/s (1 mm/s resolution), and a measurement range of 30 m to the water surface with flow direction detection capability. The equipment shall be powered by external 12 VDC nominal power supply and operate over a temperature range of -40° to +60°C. The system must be housed in a vandalism-proof, corrosion-resistant enclosure with IP 67 ingress protection rating, not exceeding 12" x 7" x 8.5" in dimensions and 12 lbs in weight. Critical features include an 80 GHz water level measurement frequency, SDI-12 interface, integrated lightning protection, installation angle correction features, diagnostic capabilities with sensor self-check and error output, hysteresis effect recognition, back water condition capability, and included communication and operating software with mounting hardware. The procurement also requires an interface communication cable at least 10 meters long.

Salient Characteristics S25108

NON-CONTACT RADAR LEVEL/VELOCITY/DISCHARGE SYSTEM

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:

1 EA, Non-Contact Discharge Measurement System:

1. Shall consist of a non-contact discharge measurement system capable of continuous measurement.

2. Shall be capable of measuring water velocity, water level, and able to compute water discharge.

3. Shall be capable of being installed on a bridge, or other structure, without expensive structural measures in the rivers or channels, thus allowing it to be located outside of the danger area during flood events.

4. Shall have a distance to water surface range of 30 m (98.4 ft) and be capable of detecting flow direction.

5. Shall measure water level with an accuracy of ±0.025 mm, or better, and a resolution of 1 mm.

6. Shall measure velocity with an accuracy of +/-0.01 m/s, or better, and a resolution of 1 mm/s.

7. Shall be capable of being powered from an external 12 VDC (nominal) power supply.

8. Shall recognize hysteresis effects.

9. Shall be capable of measurements in back water conditions.

10. Shall be housed in a vandalism-proof enclosure that is corrosion resistant and has an Ingress Protection rating of at least IP 67.

11. Housing shall be no larger than 12” x 7” x 8.5” and weigh no more than 12 lbs.

12. Shall be capable of operating over a temperature range of at least -40° to +60°C.

13. Shall include integrated lightning protection features.

14. Shall include an SDI-12 interface.

15. Shall include installation angle correction features.

16. Shall include diagnostic capabilities with sensor self-check and error output features.

17. Shall have a water level measurement frequency of 80 GHz.

18. Shall include communication and operating software.

19. Shall include mounting hardware (i.e bracket, nuts, bolts, washers).

1 EA, Interface Cable:

20. Shall include an interface communication cable that is at least 10 m long.
