About this file
This is a Salient Characteristics document (S26006) specifying requirements for a Remote Control System for Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP). The procurement calls for 2 complete remote control system kits designed to convert Teledyne RD Instruments RiverRay/RiverPro ADCP flotation devices into remotely controlled unmanned surface vehicles (USVs). Each kit must include a set of two propulsion thrusters, a communication/power module, a hand-held remote control with display and joystick, rechargeable batteries and chargers for each ADCP, mounting hardware, and cabling. The systems must be compatible with the specified ADCP models and require no special tools, adapters, or modifications to the ADCP float for assembly.
Performance specifications require the converted ADCP to operate at a maximum remotely controlled speed of at least 9.5 feet per second and a cruise speed of at least 4.5 feet per second. The hand-held remote control shall feature a 2.4 GHz transmitter with a communication range of at least 300 feet. Battery packs must provide a minimum of 1.5 hours of continuous run-time at cruising speed. All conversion kit components must be provided in ruggedized, shockproof cases suitable for transportation.
