About this file
This document contains Salient Characteristics for two Remote Control Systems for Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCPs) manufactured by Teledyne RD Instruments. The first system is designed for RiverRay/RiverPro ADCPs and the second for StreamPro ADCPs. Both kits convert ADCP flotation devices into remote-controlled, unmanned surface vehicle (USV) systems with specific technical requirements. Each kit must include a propulsion system, communication/power module, hand-held remote control with display and joystick, rechargeable batteries, mounting hardware, and ruggedized transport cases.
Key performance specifications differ between the two systems: the RiverRay/RiverPro system requires a maximum speed of 9.5 ft/sec and cruise speed of 4.5 ft/sec, while the StreamPro system requires a maximum speed of 5.0 ft/sec and cruise speed of 3 ft/sec. Both systems utilize a 2.4 GHz transmitter with a 300 ft communication range, operate for at least 1.5 hours of continuous run-time, and do not require special tools or modifications for assembly. The document specifies that each kit must be compatible with its respective ADCP model and provide a complete conversion solution for remote-controlled operations.

Remote Control Systems for Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP’s)
SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
1 ea. Remote Control System for Teledyne RD Instruments RiverRay/RiverPro (RR/RP) ADCP’s:
1. Shall consist of a kit that allows ADCP flotation devices to be converted to a remote controlled, unmanned surface vehicle (USV) system.
2. The kit shall be compatible with the Teledyne RD Instruments River Ray/RiverPro ADCP’s.
3. The kit, at a minimum, shall include a propulsion system (thrusters), a communication/power module, a hand-held remote control, rechargeable batteries/charger(s) for each ADCP, mounting hardware, and cabling.
4. When converted, the ADCP’s shall be capable of the following remotely controlled operating speeds:
- maximum speed of at least 9.5 ft./sec. and cruise speed of at least 4.5 ft/sec.
5. Remote control shall be hand-held and include a display and joystick.
6. System shall include a 2.4 GHz transmitter with a communication range of at least 300 ft.
7. Both versions shall be capable of operating from rechargeable battery packs capable of powering the unit for at least 1.5 hours of continuous run-time at cruising speed.
8. Shall not require any special tools, adapters, or modifications to the ADCP float, for assembly.
9. Shall include ruggedized, shockproof, case(s) for transporting all conversion kit components.
1 ea. Remote Control System for Teledyne RD Instruments StreamPro Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler
(ADCP’s):
10. Shall consist of a kit that allows ADCP flotation devices to be converted to a remote controlled, unmanned surface vehicle (USV) system.
11. The kit shall be compatible with the Teledyne RD Instruments StreamPro ADCP.
12. The kit, at a minimum, shall include a propulsion system (thrusters), a communication/power module with cable connections to thrusters, a hand-held remote control, rechargeable batteries/charger(s) for each ADCP, mounting hardware, and cabling.
13. When converted, the ADCP shall be capable of the following remotely controlled operating speeds:
- maximum speed of least 5.0 ft./sec. and cruise speed of at least 3 ft/sec.
14. Remote control shall be hand-held and include a display and joystick.
15. System shall include a 2.4 GHz transmitter with a communication range of at least 300 ft.
16. Shall be capable of operating from rechargeable battery packs capable of powering the unit for at least
1.5 hours of continuous run-time at cruising speed.
17. Shall not require any special tools, adapters, or modifications to the ADCP float, for assembly.
18. Shall include ruggedized, shockproof, case(s) for transporting all conversion kit components.
