About this file

This document contains the salient characteristics for an ADCP Floating Platform with Propulsion System being procured by the USGS Florida Water Science Center in Orlando. The specifications detail requirements for two propulsion systems and two floating platforms.

The propulsion systems must be battery-powered, remote-controlled units that interface with both the floating platform and an Acoustic Doppler Current Profile (ADCP) for discharge measurements. Key requirements include: two removable thrusters capable of 1.5 m/s speeds, 2.4GHz radio control with 100m range, GPS, IP67 or better protection rating, marine-grade construction, and operation between -10 to 40°C. The floating platforms must be portable, compatible with the Sontek M9ADCP, constructed of marine-grade materials, and feature low-drag design. Size constraints specify maximum dimensions of 2.4 ft wide x 3.8 ft long, with both the propulsion system and platform each weighing no more than 13 lbs. The systems must include transport cases, skid guards, navigation lights, and carry handles.
