About this file
This document is a Salients description for a federal contract opportunity. The U.S. Geological Survey has a requirement for a ground penetrating radar (GPR) system that can be attached to a drone or uncrewed aircraft system (UAS). The GPR must have an 80 MHz center frequency antenna, weigh less than 3.3 kg, and operate between -30°C to +75°C. The procurement is for a Brand Name or Equal to the Geoscanners Gekko80 system, which includes hardware and software for data acquisition and post-processing.
The related federal contract opportunity, Solicitation Number 140G0125Q0008, will be issued on or about 11/22/2024 with written quotes due on 12/03/2024. This is a total small business set-aside acquisition with a NAICS code of 334519 and a size standard of 600 employees. The anticipated award date is 12/30/2024. Vendors must be registered in SAM.gov to be awarded the contract.

1.0 INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
The U.S. Geological Survey, Water Mission Area, Observing Systems Division, Hydrologic Remote Sensing Branch (HRSB) has a need for a ground penetrating radar (GPR) that can be attached to a drone or uncrewed aircraft system (UAS). The UAS-based GPR, will be used to collect river bathymetry, a key objective of HRSB’s Remote Sensing of Discharge project. This Salients document describes the government’s requirements. The procurement is for Brand Name or Equal to the Geoscanners Gekko80.
2.0 SCOPE
This PWS is for a ground penetrating radar, which includes both hardware and software. The hardware includes an antenna with a center frequency of 80 MHz. The weight must be less than 3.3 kg to be within the payload weight limitations of currently available UAS. This procurement is not for an UAS.
Software must also be provided for acquisition and post-processing the radar signals. The software must run on either a 32-bit or native 64-bit Microsoft Windows operating system.
Must include the following:
A data processing unit, external GPS, and charger must be included with the system.
