The purpose of this project is to replace a severely non-code compliant, corroded, combination direct burial/surface mounted, electrical distribution service and the new system will be National Electric Code (NEC) compliant and eliminate fire and safety hazards. See below for detail description for each area of this Work. Tuolumne Meadows is located at approximately 8,700 feet next to the largest sub-alpine meadow in the Sierra Nevada, attracting approximately 400,000 visitors per year. The cabins and other structures are occupied by employees in the summer season, generally from June to October when the Tuolumne Pass is open, although a winter cabin is utilized year-round. There is no road access during the winter shutdown season. Employees in these camps provide essential services to visitors, providing interpretation, resources information and protection, safety services, and operation of the water and wastewater treatment plants that serve the Tuolumne Meadows Lodge, store and restaurant, and Visitor Center. Electric supply comes from a Southern California Edison primary line that runs along Tioga Pass Road.
