Title of Project: INDE 245589, Rehabilitate the Interior and Exterior of First Bank, Independence National Historical Park, Philadelphia, PA.
Description:
The purpose of this project is to retore and rehabilitate the First Bank of the United States.
1. The project consists of three primary components. The first component is the restoration and rehabilitation of the interior of the existing bank building. The existing building was originally completed in 1797 to the design of Samuel Blodgett Jr. and extensively remodeled in 1902 by the Girard Bank, which acquired the building after the closure of the First Bank. The work includes the restoration of historic brick masonry vaults, plaster walls and ceilings, wood trim, painted and transparent finishes and leaded glass. The existing elevator and shaft and non-historic partitions and finishes will be demolished. Rehabilitation work includes the modification of historic guard rails and railings, installation of fire-rated glazed partitions, new restrooms, break rooms and offices and mechanical and electrical upgrades.
2. The second primary component of the project is the restoration of the exterior including roofing and masonry. Masonry work includes restoration of brick and limestone masonry, reinforcing of brick chimneys, cleaning and conservation of the original Pennsylvania Blue marble on the historic east façade. Roofing work includes repair and partial replacement of the existing standing-seam copper roof, gutters and flashings, repairs to the fiberglass components of the cornice and replacement of the fiberglass balustrade.
3. The third primary component of the project is the construction of an addition containing a stair tower, elevator and entrance lobby. The new addition will consist of glazed curtain wall and brick veneer wall construction with cast stone trim over a concrete foundation. The roof structure will consist of a flat segment with membrane roofing flanked by standing seam copper slopes. The interior will include framed gypsum wallboard partitions, acoustic tile and gypsum board ceilings, metal pan stairs and epoxy terrazzo floors.
Type of Procurement: It is anticipated that a negotiated firm-fixed price contract will be awarded requiring submission of both a technical and price proposal. The government will consider an offeror’s technical capability in comparison to its price.
Estimated Price Range: More than $10,000,000
