Minimum Essential Characteristics For

Polhemus Viper

1. Must be a customizable and electromagnetic tracker.

2. Must be small in size

3. Must have update rates up to 960Hz and latency as low as one millisecond.

4. Must have Fly True Technology (FTT).

5. Must use a source that emits an electromagnetic field.

6. Must have finely turned sensors within the field of range and tracked in full 6DOF, measuring both position and orientation at sub-millimeter accuracy.

7. Must be portable

8. Must not need a line-of-sight for continuous tracking.

9. Must track people and objects through clothes, gloves, and walls, and does not require any special lighting conditions.

10. Must be capable of building a system tailored to the research needs.

11. Must have fully embeddable sensors and zero drift

12. Must allow different sources for tracking and up to 16 sensors.

13. Must be USB standard; dual output available

14. Must have RMS for X, Y Z position.

15. Must have useful operation up to 72 inches and beyond

16. Must have user adjustable position and orientation prediction built in.
