About this file

This statement of work outlines requirements for a service maintenance agreement for mass spectrometers. The National Institutes of Health seeks to procure preventative maintenance and repair support for Ab Sciex mass spectrometers including an API 4000, API 5500, API 6500+, Selexion device, Shimadzu XR system, gas generator and associated software. This equipment is heavily used at the National Institute on Aging for bioanalytical, metabolomic and proteomic assays on plasma samples. The agreement would be effective from June 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024 to maintain equipment and prevent breakdowns. The contractor must provide documentation after completing preventative service, guarantee one business day onsite response for the API 4000 and API 5500, and two business days for the API 6500+ and Selexion device. The service engineers must be Ab Sciex certified and trained, and only use factory certified replacement parts. Travel time must be included in pricing, and the contractor must guarantee response times from the stated location.

Statement of Work (SOW)

1. GENERAL INFORMATION

Title of Project:

Service maintenance agreement for the Ab Sciex Mass Spectrometers

Statement of Need and Purpose:

This preventive maintenance contract shall be effective from 06/01/2023 to 05/31/2024 in order to keep the equipment running and process all bioanalytical samples, including metabolomic, lipidomic, proteomic and bioanalysis without any problems. This acquisition will procure a service maintenance agreement for the Ab Sciex mass spectrometers, including the API 4000, API 5500, API 6500+, Selexion device, the Shimadzu XR system, gas generator and software plus plan. This equipment is heavily used and we have many bioanalytical and proteomic assays that are dependent on the proper functioning of the instrument. The costs of repair, if not under a maintenance agreement, would be high and would result in significant downtime for processing a purchase order and for scheduling repair, which would result in a significant delay in the processing of samples. This would hamper the research as the assays typically run on these instruments and cannot be run on any other instrument.

Background Information and Objective:

The LCI group requires the use of these instruments to do bioanalytical, metabolomic and proteomic assays of plasma samples in the lab. This agreement is needed to maintain equipment as well prevent breakdowns. At times, emergency repairs are needed and having the instruments under a maintenance agreement results in a guaranteed on site repair in one day (priority plan) and 2 business days (Assurance plan), allowing for only minimal disruption in the workflow.

Period of Performance:

From June 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024.
