4.7 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING OF EQUIPMENT

4.7.1 All equipment and parts must be properly protected against any damage.

4.7.2 Ship each motor in the vertical position with the rotor blocked inside the stator to prevent damage to the bearings. Mount securely to a skid or pallet of ample size. Box all small parts or elements.

Perform the skid mounting and boxing in a manner which will prevent damage or distortion to the motor during loading, shipment, unloading, indoor storage, and subsequent handling.

4.7.3 Ship each motor with a three-way impact recorder to measure magnitude and direction of longitudinal (Y), lateral (X), and vertical (Z) impacts suffered during shipment.

4.7.4 Each pump shall be assembled at the manufacturer's plant to assure proper fitting and alignment of all parts. Factory assembled parts and components shall not be dismantled for shipment. Due to the pump length, each pump shall be delivered in two segments, easily assembled in the field.

4.7.5 The pump shall be identified by means of a separate nameplate, permanently affixed in a conspicuous location. The plate shall bear the manufacturer's name, model designation, serial number, and other pertinent information such as design capacity, design speed, etc. The plate shall be made of corrosion-resisting metal with raised or depressed lettering and contrasting background.

4.7.6 Safety guards and/or covers shall be provided wherever necessary to protect the operators from accidental contact with moving parts. Guards and covers shall be of sheet steel, expanded metal, or another acceptable material and removable for disassembly of the pump.

Testing shall be performed either using an approved model or the first pump produced. Closed loop or closed suction test configurations shall not be accepted. If published NPSHr curves are not available, NPSH testing must also be performed per ANSI/HI 14.6-2016.

4.8.2 Whenever possible a minimum of seven test points shall be tested and recorded including one above and below the specified operating range of the pump. Head measurements shall be taken using a multiple tap with a loop manifold configuration. A thorough Pump Performance Test Plan must be supplied for approval before testing, detailing the test configuration and testing procedure, verifying adherence to specifications. Certified Pump Performance Curves shall be generated showing pump capacity vs. total head, and pump capacity vs. pump bowl efficiency, stamped by a Registered Professional Engineer.
