About this file

This document is a Procurement Specification for an Industrial Video Borescope to perform remote visual inspection (RVI) on internal surfaces of critical components and welds for the AUP & PIP-II US HiLumi Accelerator Upgrade Project at Fermilab.

The key requirements for the industrial video borescope include: 6.0 mm probe optical cable diameter, two cable lengths of 2 meters and 8 meters, 4-way motorized articulating head with dual view lens, high intensity LED lighting with brightness control, 8-inch HD touch LCD screen, and the ability to operate in temperatures between -20°F to 70°F and up to 90% relative humidity. The borescope must meet UL/NRTL safety standards and be pre-approved by Fermilab's Safety Department. A demonstration of the equipment is required for pre-approval.

The related federal contract opportunity is Solicitation Number RFP358045_BLN for a "VIDEO SCOPE KIT" issued by the Department of Energy Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. The agency is requesting a firm fixed price quote for 1 each Articulating Portable Video Scope Kit, equivalent to the Yateks 18992 & Yateks 16713-IT models. Proposals must include a SARC and PUR466 form.

Scope This document is the procurement specification for an Industrial Video Borescope to perform remote visual inspection (RVI) on internal surfaces of critical components and welds. High resolution borescopes are ideal for the most difficult of remote visual inspections on castings, welds, and machine parts produced for LHC-HL AUP and PIP-II pressure/vacuum vessels. RVI quality video borescopes have advanced zoom capabilities, can withstand challenging environments, and have a range of brightness settings to ensure a safe and efficient inspection in hard-to-see areas.

This equipment will be utilized by one of Fermilab’s Certified Weld Inspectors (CWI) to visually inspect and certify welds made on multiple AUP and PIP-II vessels as well as any other components needing certified inspection.

Description The industrial video borescope must be portable, small and light weight for handling by a single user. Imaging capabilities must be powerful enough to certify welds to ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code Section VIII and EN ISO 5817 Quality Level B Specifications.

After investigation of multiple equipment manufacturers, it was found that the following requirements for a remote visual inspection video borescope are needed to complete a quality and certifiable visual inspection for the present projects:

System:

· 6.0 mm Probe optical cable diameter

· 2 Probe optical cable lengths: 1 ea. at 2 meters long and 1 ea. at 8 meters long

· 4-way motorized articulating head with dual view lens

· Direct view, 0° to inspect directly down bores, cavities and passages

· Side View, 90° to inspect component side walls and orbital welds

· Control lever – electric rocker with lens able to rotate in 360 degree, automatic set, direction fine tuning adjustable

· High intensity white light illumination, LED with brightness control

· 8 inch HD touch LCD screen with 1024 x 768 resolution

· Detachable probe to support the variable length

· Ports: SD card, HDMI port, charge and mini USB

· Rechargeable Battery operation

Software:

· Real time multitasking operation system

· Language – English (minimum)

· File management – support image and video play, delete, format memo and naming

· Image control – zoom in/out, playback, picture freeze frame, image reversal, & mirror image

· Image format – JPEG, JPG/AVI (record date and time)

Environment of Operation

· Monitor: -10° ~ 50°F minimum working range

· Probe: -20° ~ 70°F minimum working range

· Relative Humidity – highest 90%, no condensation minimum

· Waterproof probe – IP67 minimum

Pre-Approvals concerning Equipment and FNAL Safety Compliance

· Demo required for pre-approval.

· UL/NRTL required on system itself, handheld controller, power supply, and SDS documents are required to be supplied for verification and require pre-approval with FNAL Safety Department.
