Justification for Key Points 700cc or Greater Engine Displacement The 700cc or greater engine displacement will ensure that the vehicle has adequate power and torque to maneuver through early season snowpack, which is often encountered during early season trail maintenance, in which these ATVs are used to tow trail grooming rakes. These are essential duties which must be completed in a timely manner to ensure trails are open and safe for public use.
1300 LB Towing Capacity with heavy-duty 2-inch receiver The ATVs will be used to pull grooming rakes and trailers with supplies into remote areas of the trail systems to perform trail maintenance. These materials can include railroad ties, 6x6 lumber, 12+ 2x4 lumber, split rail fencing, 4x4 posts, and a multitude of other heavy objects. The larger towing capacity and heavy-duty 2” receiver allows us to safely perform these tasks without over working and damaging equipment. This improves rider safety and allows us to provide a better user experience.
Power Steering Power steering helps to reduce rider fatigue over long days of performing work duties and can lower the risk of injury, such as rotator cuff damage from maneuvering the equipment through our more difficult trails and rock gardens. This lowers the risk of equipment damage and maintenance over the life of the equipment.
180 LB or Greater Rear Rack Capacity The 180 lb. or greater weight capacity will ensure that we will have adequate capacity to haul all the required supplies that we often use to complete our work in the field. This includes items such as chainsaws, gas cans, PPE, and other items and building materials which can be quite heavy on the racks. The higher rack capacity lowers wear and tear on the equipment and improves safety and longevity of the equipment over the life span of the vehicle and will allow the user to haul all necessary equipment improving efficiency and productivity.
Minimum ground clearance of 10.5” Terrain throughout our OHV systems can be rough and challenging consisting of various difficulty ratings up to Black Diamond or “Most Difficult”. The minimum ground clearance of 11.5 inches is to ensure adequate ground clearance for most obstacles which will help to reduce the risk of equipment damage, while also increasing rider safety. Over time, this feature should yield lower maintenance costs and risk of accidents/injuries.
Full-body skid plates Full-body skid plates are needed to protect the equipment from the unforgiving boulders and rocky terrain on the OHV trails. By protecting the equipment from damage, the full-body skid plate also ensures rider safety and longevity of equipment.
Narrower 46.5” body width OHV trails are managed to a certain width for Class I & III use, making some of the trails narrow. The narrower 46.5” body width ensures easy access to all trails for maintenance, ensuring rider safety, and allows for side-by-side loading onto trailers for better/stable transport to/from worksite.
2,500 lb. capacity winch The winch package provides the capability to get through the tough situations, which are sometimes unavoidable in dynamic trail conditions. The 2,500-pound capacity will ensure operator safety.
