About this file
This document is a Statement of Need for Explosive Detection Equipment (EDE) issued by the 60th Security Forces Squadron (60 SFS/S-5). The requirement is for two handheld explosive trace detection (ETD) devices to enhance base security at Travis Air Force Base, specifically for commercial vehicle inspection (CVI) access points in compliance with DAFI 31-101. The devices must have comprehensive sampling capabilities for both explosives and drugs, including detection of various chemical compounds such as nitroaromatics, nitramines, different drug types, and other specified substances.
The solicitation (FA442725Q1069) is for a Firm Fixed Price contract through the Department of the Air Force Air Mobility Command. The ETD devices are intended to supplement existing K-9 explosive detection capabilities and provide a critical layer of defense against potential threats. The equipment must be able to screen solids, powders, and liquids across an extensive range of explosive and drug detection parameters, with the primary goal of maintaining a safe and secure installation environment during commercial, delivery, and contract vehicle entry inspections.
