About this file
This document is a Model Specification for a Cable Assembly, Electrical, W5R (Critical Component) for a Re-entry System. The specification covers acceptance and preproduction requirements for a cable assembly used in military aerospace applications. Key technical requirements include maintaining electrical continuity with a maximum resistance of 3.0 ohms between connector pins, dielectric strength testing, and insulation resistance testing.
The specification details extensive environmental and performance testing, including temperature cycling from ambient to plus 160 degrees F, humidity exposure, shock testing, and altitude simulation from sea level to 200,000 feet. The cable assembly must meet stringent reliability standards, with a demonstrated probability of success of at least 0.9999 after exposure to various environmental conditions. Additional requirements cover physical characteristics such as weight (1.17 ± 0.27 pounds), connector mating/demating, cable flexure, and overall workmanship standards. The specification is intended for use in a critical Re-entry System component and follows multiple military standards for packaging, marking, and quality assurance.
